June 07 Large tree roots invade and grow in drains
Our neighbours kitchen sink was filling with our waste water from our drain, every time our toilet flushed their sinks filled up with our toilet waste not very nice as well there was a nasty drain smell in the air, and after a few days of messing around trying to locate the problem, it was quite clear there were more property's involved, about ten households were effected, anglian water had been called to check the main sewer/drain in the road, and they had said the main drains were clear, so we called in the local drainage engineers, who were able to locate the problem and clear the blockage, it was a large blockage made up of tree roots, that appeared to have been growing for some time at the bottom of our deep drain, the removed roots filled up three black bin liners. Job done, all toilets and sinks are now working fine and the smells have disapeared. thanks picture below is of some of the roots.
